The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has called for attutidinal change among residents of Nyanya, Karu and Jikwoyi toward ensuring an improved environmental hygiene.
AMAC chairman Abdullahi Adamu Candido said this during an awareness campaign led by the newly established AMAC Environmental Sanitation Cadet in Jikwoyi.
He said he supervised the exercise to ensure compliance and also introduce members of the cadet who would be in charge of the environment, to the residents.
He called for attitudinal change by residents especially traders in various markets to always make use of refuse bins at designated dumpsites.
He said the cadets would be stationed at strategic locations to deter people from littering the environment by dumping refuse in gutters and other unauthorized places.
Council officials, members of the AMAC Environmental Sanitation Cadet, AMAC Marshal Guards and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) visited the popular Nyanya Wednesday Market, Karu Market and major roads littered with dirt in Jikwoyi, where they evacuated refuse and sensitized the people on proper waste management.
