The Abuja project midwife, Liyetu Esubihi, said Rotary International maternal and child health mortality reduction project commenced in the FCT from 2011 and will terminate by December, 2014, adding that Rotary maternal and child health mortality reduction project has impacted on the health of women and children in the FCT since its commencement in 2011.
“We have witnessed a drop in maternal deaths in Kubwa and Kuje General Hospitals through the use of ultra sound machines that were donated in August, 2012.
“During the course of the project, activities such as community dialogues in communities where maternal mortality is high, data collection, monitoring and supervision of implementing hospitals and review meetings are held twice every year,” she said.
The meeting was declared open by the Chairman Rotary International Nigeria, Dr. Kola Owoka, who welcomed participants to the two-day meeting and urged them to make meaningful contributions towards the achievements of the project’s objectives.
