The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Dachung Pam Mwadkon of the African Democratic Party (ADP) andDaniel Asama Ago of the Labour Party as the winners of the Plateau North Senatorial District Jos North-Bassa Federal Constituency rerun elections conducted on Saturday.

Declaring the results, the returning officer for the Plateau North Senatorial District, Professor Nestor Chagok, of the University of Jos, said Mwadkon scored 122,442 votes  to defeat his closest challenger, Shapi’u Yakub, who scored 53,980 votes.

Meanwhile, Professor James Damen, who served as the returning officer for the Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, also declared that Daniel Asama Ago of the Labour Party scored 66,422 votes, defeating the second challenger, Muhammed Alkali of the PRP, who scored 61,670 votes.

The breakdown of the results showed that ADP won in all five local government areas: Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Jos South, Jos East and Riyom, while NNPP won in Jos North.

The breakdown of the results as presented by INEC showed that Shafi’u Muhammad Yakubu of the NNPP came second with 53,980 votes, while Chris Giwa of the APC polled 39,132, and Gyang Zi of the LP got 33,243 votes.

Our correspondent reports that some party agents have refused to sign the final results of the elections.
