Speaking at the just concluded 47th council meeting of the body held in Abuja, Ibrahim said there was need to look beyond the MDGS as Nigeria was not likely to meet the set target by 2015.

“We are looking beyond 2015 to achieve your desired goals. There are some improvements in the prevalence of HIV, maternal mortality ratios, immunization coverage and reduction in child and infant mortality but not at a level we can be proud of.”

The PPFN boss added that “We are looking to complement government’s efforts and strengthening partnership with other stakeholders to bring about synergy and leverage on the resources we have.”

At the general elections carried out in the course of the programme, Mr. Oladele Olaniyi succeeded Mrs. Lami Buba as President.

The outgoing president said “During my tenure we relocated the headquarters to Abuja which made it more accessible to our donor agencies. Also voluntary participation increased.”
