The corpse of a six-year-old girl, Aisha Dahiru, was on Sunday discovered near a cemetery at Sabon Layi area of Kurmin Mashi, in Kaduna South local government area of Kaduna State.

This came five months after the remains of a six-year-old girl were found in a mosque within the same community.

Though it is not certain if Aisha was raped, her mother, Amratu Dahiru told our correspondent that Aisha had gone missing around 12 noon when she returned from Islamic school and stepped out to play.

A distraught Amratu, a mother of four, said the corpse was found around 5pm.

She said after it was discovered that Aisha had not returned home to prepare for Islamic school scheduled for 2pm, a search party was immediately launched.

“Her remains have been taken to Barau Dikko Hospital for examination and we are still waiting for them to bring her back so we can bury her,” she said.

The Kaduna state Police Command confirmed the incident but said the remains of the deceased were still at the hospital awaiting post-mortem examination.

As to why the examination was taking too long, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige said before the deceased will be examined, a coroner’s form must be filled, which must equally be signed by a magistrate but said the magistrate was yet to do so.

Daily Trust reports that in June, the corpse of six-year-old Khadija Ya’ú was discovered in a small community mosque, less than 20 metres from her home in Kurmin Mashi.

After medical examination, Khadija was discovered to have been raped and killed before being dumped in the mosque.

The incident sparked outrage and fear in the community but no one was arrested in connection to the crime.
