He was speaking in Abuja at a one-day religious interactive seminar tagged “Muslims of Europe” organised by the Zaymar Islamic Research and Development Education Centre, in collaboration with the German embassy and the British High Commission.
He said the German Embassy is working with religious stakeholders and the government of Nigeria to find a lasting solution to the crises.
“It is important for the stakeholders themselves to find solution to the problem and not wait for outsiders. The setting up of interfaith mediation centres across the country is commendable,” Wagner said while calling on other states to emulate Kaduna in resolving their crises.
He also said that Islam as a religion, is growing and gaining greater prominence across Europe.
He said the naming of a Muslim German, Mr Cem Ozdemir as the chairman of the Green party, one of the political parties in Germany and the exploits of other Muslims in other fields has helped improve the image of Islam in Europe.
While saying that although Germany was a secular state, it still respects the religious views of all religions and even teaches Islam in schools. He urged Muslims to continue to be good ambassadors of their religion and ensure peaceful co-existence with neighbours.
A legal consultant, Alhaji Sirajudeen Oyelola, in his presentation titled “Future of Muslims in Europe” decried the misconception against Islam.
