Speaking with Weekly Trust in Katsina, Jari noted that regional forums have lost their relevance, saying rather than unite all “they have become a threat to the president and the nation at large.”
He said regional forums and other sundry associations across the country have further compounded the problem of governance.
According to him, Nigerians do not dislike the ruling People’s Democratic Party but the “destructive tendencies” of its members, advising that such attitude must change in the collective interest of Nigerians.
Jari noted that the welfare of people must be seen to be paramount above that of the party, adding that the younger generation should be given more opportunities, while contest for political positions must be open to all irrespective of region, tribe or religion.
He said the older generation has outlived its usefulness, noting that “all they fight for is their interest and not the collective aspirations of all Nigerians.”
Jari called on President Jonathan to champion the removal of immunity clause from the constitution, noting that leaders hide under such protection to commit various offences with impunity. He said initiating such action would portray the president as a sincere and upright leader.
