According to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Alhaji Sadiq Mohammed, this year’s event is a reaffirmation of the robust and vibrant relations between Nigeria and Spain. He said the memorandum of understanding signed between both nations has rightly provided a formal platform for the promotion of more cultural activities that are beneficial to both countries. “One of such is the annual competition on Nigerian Visual Arts organised by the Embassy.” The opportunity, he said, has given young Nigerian artists the opportunity to showcase and improve their talents.
The Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria, Àngel Losada, informed that the celebration which strengthens relations between Nigeria and Spain through the cultural diversity will be extended to Lagos for the first time.
Losada added that this year’s edition will include the inauguration of the Olé Tapas Bar, a performance by the Jos Repertory Theatre of Spanish Playwright; Caldéron de la Barca’s Life is a dream as well as the spectacular Flamenco Dance performance and presentation of awards to the winners of the competition.
The events which began with the opening of the Olé Tapas Bar and Impacto showroom are on till the 22nd at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton and the 24th at the Medici Restaurant Lagos.
