The Association of Radiologists in Nigeria (ARIN) says lack of funding for equipment and poor power supply remains a serious challenge for the profession.

ARIN Chairman, Abuja branch, Dr Ohikhokhai Wellington, said this in Abuja during the 2019 International Day of Radiologists at Gwarimpa General Hospital, with the theme “Sports Imaging, Musculoskeletal Radiology”.

He said the discovery of X-Ray had completely changed the whole scope of medicine in both diagnosis and treatment of patients.

According to him, “as important as radiology is, there is the problem of funding of radiology departments in various hospitals and our electricity supply is not yet optimal.”

The guest speaker at the event, Dr Muhammad Mamman, charges radiologists to take their profession serious and take good care of their equipment “as they are very expensive.”
