Signs that the House may not resume this week due to defection fears by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came last week as more members of the party were said to be ready to declare for the opposition, APC as soon as the House reconvenes.
There were reports last week that Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal was already warming up to declare for APC as he is the only lawmaker from Sokoto State who is yet to do so.
With the planned meeting of PDP NEC this week, the party is said to be buying time in order to make last minute efforts to stop Tambuwal and other members from defecting to APC.
Already, the Senate has confirmed in a published announcement yesterday that due to the Eid-el-Maulud public holiday declared for tomorrow and the Armed Forces Remembrance Day which will take place on Wednesday, Senators will now resume their legislative duties on Tuesday, January 21.
But when contacted yesterday, House spokesman Rep Zakari Mohammed (APC, Kwara) said he would address the Reps correspondents on the matter today.
