A statement issued by the spokesman of the army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Attahiru, said the promotion has been approved by the army council.
According to General Attahiru: “Among those promoted to the substantive rank of Major Generals are the Defence Adviser Nigerian Mission to the United Nations in New York, Brigadier General Lincoln Ogunewe and Acting Director, Military Intelligence, Brigadier General Letam Wiwa.
Others are, “Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Military Police, Brigadier General Adamu Abubakar, Commander, Multi National Joint Task Force, Brigadier General Augustine Edokpayi, Director, Army Physical Training, Brigadier General Shehu Yusuf.”
Also promoted to Major General include; Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General Chris Olukolade, Commander, 23 Brigade, Brigadier General Fatai Alli, Commander, 9 Brigade, Brigadier General Adeniyi Oyebade, Commander, 3 Brigade, Brigadier General IIiyasu Abbah and Acting Commander, Nigerian Army Education Corps, Brigadier General Sunday Adebayo.
“Also affected are the Director, Clothing and Stores, Army Headquarters, Brigadier General Augustine Okoh, Commander, Guards Brigade, Brigadier General Emmanuel Atewe, Commander, 4 Brigade, Brigadier General Patrick Akem, Commander 34 Brigade, Brigadier General Modibbo Alkali,” General Attahiru added.
Among those promoted to the rank of Brigadier General include, Colonel Ali Nani of Training and Doctrine Command, Acting Commander,37 Brigade, Colonel Okoi Obono, Acting Commander,21Brigade,Colonel Ibrahim Yusuf, Colonel Olufunmilola Soleye of Ministry of Defence, and Colonel Adamu Jalingo of Department of Civil Military Affairs, Army Headquarters, the army statement said.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air force yesterday at the head quarters of the service in Abuja decorated 33 Group Captains among 39 promoted to the rank of Air Commodores.
Those promoted to the rank of Air Commodores include, O.O Akinsanya, L.U Mshelia, C.D Dola, I.O Amao, A.A Olabisi, C.U Umolu, D.S Bausa, A.G Pani, A.Y Lassa, S.I Usman and R.N Ekeh.
Also promoted are, DJ Alonge, A.D Dudusola, U.S Suleiman, I.O Ojeyemi, E.G Umeoka, M.N Madi, C Onyike, DL Sanda, C.A Ohwo, T. Oladega, IG Lubo and M.A Yakubu.
Others are, D.G Prayero, E.A Wonah, C.E Egwoba, P.O Jemitola, A.B Inuwa, M.O.D Idonibo, AA Kassimu, H.E Eze, N.A Camday, O A Adesanya, S.P Ohemu, J.A Ochoma, A Iyamu, E.O Akinbayo, M Tanko and I.O Yahaya.
