The Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria, (APBN), has advised the federal government to suspend its proposal to merge the Bank of Industry, (BoI), with other development institutions in the country.

The president of the association, Dr. Idris Omede, who gave the advice at its board meeting in Lagos, said the government should recapitalize the bank in order to deepen its services to Nigerians instead of fusing it with other institutions.

He said the bank should be allowed to function as a separate entity based on its impressive performance over the years.

Omede also implored the federal government to engage professionals and canvassed the use of Made-In-Nigeria products.

According to him, the government must also demonstrate this in every facet by encouraging and supporting manufacturers and locally made goods.

Also speaking, the President of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, (ANAN), Mr. Anthony Nzom, urged the federal government to partner with the APBN by engaging her members to handle key sectors of the economy and other areas that would get the country out of recession.
