The Minister of Health Prof. Isaac Adewole has urged Nigerians to produce the number of children they can cater for.
The minister, who was represented by the Director, Family Health in the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr Wapada. I. Balami made the declaration at an advocacy stakeholders meeting in Abuja.
“We are saying produce the number of children you can take care of. That is why we are bringing out this method. When we have male condom, we should have female condoms as well. We try to sensitise people and create more advocacy to accept the service we have,” Adewole said.
The Director, Programs Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH) Osinowo Kehinde said female condom is one of the family planning methods that were approved by the United Nations as contraceptives to be made available in every country.
“It is available in this country and it is good for people to know about it as a method for prevention of pregnancy, HIV and Sexually Transmitted Diseases,” Osinowo said.
