The Presidential Committee for North East Initiative (PCNI), yesterday said that it would focus on reconstruction and rehabilitation of Boko Haram victims this year.
Head of Programme, Management and Coordination of the committee, Mr Mohammed Danjuma, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
Danjuma said that there would be very effective coordination to ensure the full implementation of the “Buhari Plan”, developed by the committee to drive the process of rehabilitation and reconstruction in the region.
According to him, the committee would within the year offer support for immediate comprehensive relief, social stabilization and early recovery to over seven million people in the region.
He added that under the medium term provision of the Buhari Plan, the committee would in the next two years, focus on the voluntary resettlement of 2.4 million displaced persons.
Danjuma added that 21.4 million citizens would be targeted in the long term to benefit from economic and development strategies for sustainable growth in the North east.
He said that the long term plan would run for 60 months.
