In view of the proposed amendment to the Kaduna State preaching law, the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has advised the state government to make wider consultations with all stakeholders.
This was part of observations and recommendations in a communiqué signed by JNI Secretary-General, Dr. Khalid AbubakarAliyu, at the end of the group’s annual Central Council and Pre-Ramadan meeting in Kaduna.
The communiqué decried the economic and social hardship being experienced by Nigerians and called on leaders not to deviate from acts of justice, fairness, transparency and accountability in the discharge of their respective responsibilities.
The communiqué however lamented the increasing number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and described as alarming and worrisome the inadequate food, shelter, clothing and basic medical care available to them.
It urged governments at all levels and other stakeholders to do more in ameliorating the sufferings of the IDPs, saying the Victim Support Fund (VSF) should be used in ameliorating their sufferings and rebuilding damaged places.
It also commended the federal government and the armed forces for the seriousness they have demonstrated and the giant strides so far recorded in fighting insurgency, while urging government not to relent in its efforts towards resounding success.
The meeting, which was chaired by the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of JNI, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’adAbubakar, had in attendance the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji (Dr.) MuhammaduIlyasu Bashar; the Emir of Kano, Mal. MuhammaduSanusi II; the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu; the Emir of Zazzau, AlhajiShehuIdris; the EtsuNupe, AlhajiYahayaAbubakar; the Emir of Fika, Alhaji Muhammad AbaliIbn Muhammad Idrissa; and Governor of Kaduna State, MalamNasir El-Rufai, among others.
