The minister gave the assurance in Gombe, while on a tour on the project, which is being handled by Lingo Nigeria limited.
“It is our belief that if they are up and doing and with proper supervision, they should be able to complete the work within the time they promised us. My expectation is that by the middle of this year the job would be completed so that trains can start moving from Port Harcourt to somewhere like Ashaka in Gombe State,” he said.
Idris said the ministry acknowledges the fact that they may be some problems on the Maiduguri site due to security challenges.
“I am however hopefully that the security situation would be tackled before the middle of this year so that trains can ply the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri line without hitches,” he said.
