Osun State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola has tasked experts to come up with legal framework that would enable the poor to access capital from financial financial institutions.

The Governor said this in Osogbo, the state capita at the public presentation of a book titled Fundamentals of Secured Finance Law written by Osun State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.

Aregbesola expressed concern that the poor in Nigerians might continue to remain poor until they could access capital to do businesses and became successful.

"The legal experts must help us to develop legal framework that will help the poor in the society to have access to capital. That is a sure way to eradicate poverty. But if the situation remain the same and only the rich can get capital from financial institutions, then, it means the poor will remain poor and poverty will continue to reign. We don’t want that to happen. That’s is why we must take the poor into consideration and let them access capital".

The Governor hailed the author of the book for his intellectual capability to combine politics with legal practice and still be able to organize himself and put his thought down for others to gain from it.

"I must commend Dr Ajibola Basiru for being able to author this book. It is not easy to combine what we do (politics) with other things considering our tight schedule. I’m surprised that the author was able to come up with this book and I commend him. He did great and we are proud of him," Aregbesola said.

While speaking, Basiru said he was motivated to write the book as his contribution to knowledge development in his area of specializations.

The event was attended by top personalities in the state including the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Titilayo Laoye Tomori, Deputy Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Engineer Akintunde Adegboye, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, judges and lawyers, members of the State Executive Council, traditional rulers, political and interest groups, market men and women, artisans and members of Civil Society Groups.
