The wife of the Chief of Army Staff, Mrs Umma Kalsum Tukur Buratai, has attributed the Boko Haram insurgency to poor education in the North-east region.
Mrs Buratai who is also the National President, Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), said at the commissioning of a block of four classrooms at the NAOWA Nursery and Primary School, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos, that if the Boko Haram terrorists had received quality and sound education, they would have abstained from violence and criminality.
She said the new classrooms would be a citadel of learning where pupils would build their capacities and aspirations with the support of their teachers, and called for proper funding of the education sector to enable it produce the desired results.
The classrooms which were built by NAOWA were furnished by Governor Simon Bako Lalong. The governor’s wife, Regina Lalong, said NAOWA had put in much financial effort to make the project a reality and encouraged beneficiaries to make the best use of it.
