The Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic in Ikot Osurua embarked on an indefinite strike yesterday after three days warning strike.
The strike was as a result of the failure of the Akwa Ibom State government to negotiate with the management of the institution and meet their demands.
Students who were to commence their first semester examination met the school gates locked and tried to forcefully gain entrance, thereby causing minor chaos.
A staff who preferred anonymity said they were very angry with the state government for not paying them their 7.5%allowances and non-increment of staffs salaries who have been promoted.
There was no immediate response from the state government.
