An unidentified armed robber was on Sunday shot dead by the police during a robbery attack in Saburi, Abuja.
City News gathered from police source that the deceased, with three of his accomplices, had attacked the house of one of the residents of the area around 8.20p.m.
The source said the robbers had succeeded in gaining entrance into the house when the police team immediately laid ambush on them by the Chinese railway line following a distress call by a neighbour.
“One of the robbers died after being shot on the head, while his berreta pistol with three rounds of life ammunitions and an empty shell were recovered from him,” the source added.
According to the source, the other three suspects escaped while their unregistered Jincheng motorcycle was recovered.
City News further learnt that the corpse had been deposited at the Kubwa General Hospital morgue, while the victim who sustained injury during the attack was taken to Access Hospital Gwagwa for medical attention.
When contacted, the Gwagwa DPO, Chief Superintendent Raphael Elechi, confirmed the incident, adding that efforts were on to arrest the escaped suspects.
