The police however assured Jos Muslims that they will have a violence-free Sallah celebration.
“Following series of meetings with Muslims, Christian leaders and other stakeholders of Plateau State, the state Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has put in place comprehensive security strategies towards ensuring a peaceful and violence-free Sallah celebration,” the Police Command said in a statement it released yesterday.
The statement which was signed by the State Police Commissioner, CP Emmanuel Ayeni, explained that “the Eid-el-Fitr prayers would not be observed at Rukuba and Polo grounds considering the security risk inherent, pending peaceful resolution of controversy surrounding the places. Alternative ground has therefore been provided at the Bauchi Road Motor park.”
