Those engaged in vandalising oil pipelines are irresponsible and barbaric, a member of the House of Representatives from Delta State has said.
Recently, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) announced the shutting down of Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna refineries due to the activities of vandals.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Rep Julius Pondi (PDP, Delta), said those engaged in the act did not mean well for Nigeria.
“I don’t know what their reasons are, but some people assume that it is because of the invitation of the former militant, General Tompolo to appear in court in Lagos. That is why these pipelines are being destroyed, they alleged. Whatever their reasons may be, it is a barbaric act,’’ he said.
