Abuja Grade 1 Area Court has sentenced one Stanley Oke to three months imprisonment for stealing a telephone handset in Kubwa, a satellite town of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The accused, of Arab Road, was convicted for theft, an offence that contradicts Section 287 of the Penal Code.
The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that one Angela Ozanuri of PW, Kubwa, reported at a Kubwa Police Station, on December 3, of how the accused acted in a dubious manner and dishonestly stole her Techno 7C tablet phone valued at N25, 000, in her shop.
He said the accused was arrested while attempting to escape with the stolen item.
When the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three months imprisonment by the judge, Mohammed Marafa, with an option of N20, 000 as fine.
