The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Kano state branch has called off its strike in the state, chairman of the association Alhaji Bashir Ahmad Danmalam has said.
Daily Trust reports that IPMAN embarked on strike last Friday over multiple-taxation and molesting of its members by the Kano State Tax Force Committee on Petroleum.
However, Danmalam told Daily Trust that the decision to end the strike followed an agreement reached between leaders of the union and Kano state government at a meeting summoned by the state acting governor, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Alhaji Kabiru Alhassan Rurum on yesterday.
He said the union had already directed its members to return to their businesses.
On his part, Alhaji Abduljalal Haruna, secretary of the committee, confirmed that the acting governor of the state and Speaker, State House of Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Alhassan Rurum has told leaders of the union that only the state governor Abdulahi Umar Ganduje can abolish the mobile court.
Daily Trust reports that following the strike which lasted for only two days, a four litre of gallon of fuel was sold between N1,000 and N1,200 at the black-market.
