Petrol stations in Plateau State resumed sale of fuel yesterday after a resolution of the dispute with the state government.
Daily Trust on Sunday reports that motorists in Plateau State experienced scarcity of fuel on Friday following a directive by NARTO and NUPENG to shut all petrol stations in protest of two petrol trucks impounded by the state’s traffic regulation task force in Jos.
The directive of the petrol unions was fully complied with as motorists suffered artificial scarcity throughout the day.
Checks on Saturday showed that normalcy has returned to the city as petrol stations were seen attending to motorists.

The chairman of the state task force on traffic regulation, Arch Hart Bankat, said “We are still discussing with stakeholders but petrol stations have opened and all decisions and resolutions will be made public after all.”
The Plateau State chairman of the Petroleum Tankers Drivers Association (PTDA) Alhaji Yawale Muhammed, said the discussion with the government was fruitful, which led to the reopening of the stations.
Asked if petrol tanker drivers are ready to obey the state’s traffic laws henceforth, Alhaji Yawale said, “We are ready to respect the law of the state one hundred and ten per cent.”
