The Sokoto State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has described as laudable the peaceful coexistence among Muslims and Christians in the state.

It gave the commendation when members of the association paid a visit to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as part of activities marking this year’s Christmas celebration.

Spokesman of CAN in Sokoto, Reverend Steven Okafor, applauded the people of the state for their tolerance and hospitality, stressing that Christians in the state celebrated the Christmas under a peaceful atmosphere.

He also expressed satisfaction with the ‘people-oriented’ projects being carried out by the present administration in the state, and urged the state government to consolidate on the achievements.

In a remark, Governor Tambuwal facilitated with the Christians on Christmas celebration, and talked of need for all citizens to work towards ensuring enduring peace and unity in Nigeria. “Peace is the key to national development, “the governor said.
