City News gathered that six passengers also sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident.
The injured passengers were taken to hospital by men of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) for medical treatment.
An eyewitness said the accident occurred about 6:45 a.m. when a DAF truck with registration number XC 734 GMU loaded with cows coming on top speed rammed into Volkswagen Sharon vehicle with registration number BWR 629 ABC.
The truck driver was said to have lost control of the vehicle before veering off the road and hit a tree.
He said all occupants of the Volkswagen Sharon vehicle narrowly escaped unhurt while six passengers inside the truck sustained injuries and one of them died on the spot.
Abaji unit commander of the FRSC, Moses Audu confirmed the accident, adding that one person died and six others sustained injuries. He said the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Audu informed City News that the corpse was deposited at Kwali General Hospital while the six injured passengers were taken to Abaji General Hospital for medical attention.
In a related development,   three persons were also injured on Saturday evening in another accident, which occurred along the same road.
Yangoji unit commander of the FRSC, Austine Chukwudi Okeke, who confirmed the accident, said the accident, which involved a Volkswagen Golf with registration number KKF 529 AA occurred at about 6:10 p.m.
He said the driver lost control due to speeding, adding that the injured persons were taken to Kwali General Hospital.
