The proprietress of Amadin Orphanage Home, Benin, Mrs Lucy Bello, has called on well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations to support the rehabilitation of the home gutted by fire on April 10.
Speaking with Niger Delta Trust, Mrs Bello, said though no life was lost in the fire but valuables worth millions of naira used by the inmates were destroyed.
According to her, some of the valuables destroyed included three desktop computers, four laptops, four printers, four digital cameras and six sewing machines.
She said following the incident the management had to take the 22 inmates at the burnt centre to its permanent site, which is under construction, to share 15 rooms with the 34 inmates already there.
Mrs. Bello said that the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Magdalene Ohenhen, and Mr Lukman Salami, Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Godwin Obaseki on State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), had visited the home to ascertain the level of damage and see how to render help.
