The Plateau State High Court, presided over by Justice Nankwat Dawat Shashe’et, has remanded two suspected organ harvesters, Noah Kekere, and Yusuf Abdullahi, at the Jos custodial centre, for allegedly removing the left kidney of one Ibrahim Ejibade in 2019.

This is coming almost a month after the same suspects were remanded by Justice D.G Fombing, on the alleged kidney harvest of one Mrs Khende Kamaru, in 2018.

The suspects were remanded again for allegedly removing the kidney of another patient after their arraignment at the court by Andrew Yilnaan, Assistant Chief Council with the state Ministry of Justice.

Mr Kekere was arrested by the police for alleged kidney harvest at his Murna Clinic and Maternity, located in the Yanshanu community of Jos North local government area of the State.

In a suit No. PLD/J168/2023, before Justice Shashe’et, between the people of Plateau State and Mr Noah Kekere and Yusuf Abdullahi, the state government in the four-count charge accused the defendants of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, causing grievous hurts and removing, selling and trafficking of the kidney of Ibrahim Ejibade.

After reading the charges, the suspects pleaded not guilty.

The defence counsel, led by Barr. E. A. Achoba, told the court of their bail application, arguing that the offences suspected to have been committed were all bailable, and “an accused person was presumed innocent until proven guilty.”

But the prosecution counsel opposed the bail application, arguing that the offences were grievous.

Justice Shashe’et, however, remanded the suspects and reserved a date for ruling on the bail application.
