Adedeji retired recently from active service, having had a career in the Nigerian Navy.
From the 10 area councils that constitute Oke-Ogun, came the representatives of each town demonstrating the oneness of Oke-Ogun. The mammoth crowd thronged Okaka in Itesiwaju local council, the home town of the retired Naval officer.
Okaka was a beehive of activities as different entertaining groups from the nooks and crannies of Oke-Ogun thrilled the audience with solemn and melodious tunes eulogizing the celebrant.
Vocalists, dancers and drummers as well as different religious groups witnessed the occasion. The civic reception which was organized by the umbrella body of Oke-Ogun people, the Oke-Ogun Development Council (ODC) was to celebrate the man who had done Oke-Ogun and the entire people of Oyo State proud in his chosen career. The occasion was a demonstration of love, loyalty and support for the retired officer who was said to have had the interest of his people at hearth.
Oke-Ogun traditional Council of Obas led by its chairman, His Royal Highness, Oba (Dr) Abdul Ganiyu Adekunle Ologunebi, Ajinese I and rulers from the 10 local government areas in Oke-Ogun were present.
Renowned academics like Professor Dibu Ojerinde, the Registrar, Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Tunji Akande, the Director General of Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER) Ibadan and former university teacher, Professor Josuah Dada Adeniyi were there. Former Minister of State for Agriculture, Otunba Bamidele Dada, was also present.
