A Senior Secondary School (SSS III) student of Agbara Grammar School, Ado Odo-Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, Akanni Azeez Olawale and his parents have reportedly beaten up the school principal, Ajibola Olanrewaju and a teacher in the school.

Daily Trust gathered that the incident occurred last Wednesday after the principal of the school reportedly seized Olawale’s uniform.

It was learned that the principal had insisted that Olawale had registered for the May/June West African Senior Secondary School Examinations in a private school, and should stop parading himself as a student of the school.

He then seized his uniform, a source said.

Our correspondent further gathered that Olawale returned home only to storm the school premises later with his parents and descended on the principal.

“Olawale went back home and stormed the school some minutes later with his parents. All efforts to pacify and explain the situation to the parents failed as they started attacking the principal, and it was in the process that the student, Olawale, slapped one of the teachers and tore his clothes,” the source said.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu, described the act as condemnable and vowed to prosecute the student and his parents.

Also, the Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, Ogun State, Seun Agbesanwa urged the state government to ensure that appropriate sanctions are meted out to those involved in the alleged assault on both the teacher and principal of the school.

Ogun State has witnessed several incidents of students attacking teachers in the state.

The state government introduced a compulsory undertaking to be signed by all the students and their parents to curb hooliganism.
