A group, Congress of Oduduwa Descendants (COD), on Thursday, held one million-man rally in Lagos in solidarity with a united, indivisible Nigeria.

On the occasion of the country’s diamond jubilee, the group said “it is not a case of east, south, west or north, but one Nigeria.”

There have been growing agitation by some groups in the South West for a Sovereign State of Oduduwa Republic.

However, the President-General of COD, Otunba Arokoyo Olumide Peterson, at a rally held in Lagos pledged total allegiance to the country, downplaying “enemies attempts to fester conflict in our polity”

While admitting the challenges confronting the nation, the group expressed confidence that together “it will triumph over her adversaries.”

The Congress of Oduduwa Descendants, however, called on Nigerians to “consolidate on the unity of purpose and diversity of strength of our dear country”.

It assured that Nigeria shall stay united for many years ahead in its quest for greatness.

The group also held a one million-man march for the unity of Nigeria in Abuja on Friday expressing firm belief and unalloyed commitment to peace and prosperity of the country.

The Abuja rally was attended by 20 chapters of the group from the Federal Capital Territory and the 19 northern states.

In his address, Coordinating President, Comrade Dauda Owolabi said the country’s unity remains sacrosanct and non-negotiable.

Owolabi pledged solidarity with the Federal Government in “her various efforts at translating the hopes and aspirations of all Nigerians into tangible reality”.

According to him, those “canvassing for the Oduduwa Republic are not one of us and shall never be because their agitations are borne out of absolute mischief intended to truncate our nascent democracy”.

He, however, warned that “his members and other true descendants of Oduduwa would not watch the enemies of Nigeria have their way, hiding under whatever nomenclature that would lead to chaos and disunity.”

“We have weathered the storms, and we have come out unscathed. We have experienced one of the most deadly insurrections in the world, yet we remain unshaken. What the enemies of Nigeria do not know is the fact that our strength lies in our diversity.” He said.
