Ahead of today (Thursday)’s Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) elections set to hold in Kano, two candidates have been disqualified for failure to fulfil requirements that would enable take part in the contest.
Speaking to Daily Trust on the level of preparation for NSE election, the association’s National President, Engineer Adekunle Mokuolu, confirmed that two candidates were disqualified during the screening exercise by the NSE independent electoral committee.
“The two persons were screened out for failure to fulfil the criteria set by NSE’s independent electoral committee; one of the affected persons was screened out for late submission of form and the other for defaulting in payment of union dues.
“The committee did its works and brought out guidelines which were approved by the council and those guidelines were what were used in the electioneering processes and those affected have been notified appropriately,” he said.
The president described the 2019 NSE conference as a success, but added that as a president of NSE he could not make a direct judgment, rather, he would allow the public to do so.
“I can confirm to you that we have received very few complaints about the conference and the election as well. However, if you get a good mark on these, I think one has done well, but let the public make their judgment. This is my modest opinion,” he concluded.
