Alhaji Muhammad, while addressing news-men in Katsina yesterday said the command has recovered 96 stolen cows from suspected cattle rustlers. Hurdi said eight suspects were arraigned for armed robbery, while three others were taken for cattle rustling.
He said the Nigerien, Bade Yusuf, 35 of Maradi in Niger Republic was arrested in Sawarye village in Kaita Local Government Area with nine cows suspected to have been stolen. He said another suspect was arrested around Rugu forest in Safana Local Government Area with 53 cows suspected to have been stolen.
He added that one Abdussalam Adamu, a suspected armed robber was arrested in Unguwar-Doka village in Faskari Local Govern-ment Area a day after two armed bandits attacked and killed a 10-year-old cattle rearer, Adamu Mustapha.
He said three other suspected armed robbers, Isah Adamu, Suarjo Sani and Abdullahi Sa’idu were arrested in Kafur Local Government Area.
“The suspects were intercepted while operating along Kafur-Malumfashi road. They enga-ged police in fire exchange and one of them, Isah Adamu was arrested,” he said.
The commissioner said four suspected hoodlums popularly known as Kauraye have been charged to court. They were accused of invading Kofar-Marusa quarters on July 1, and beating and molesting innocent people.
