Survivors of armed banditry in Niger State displaced from their communities have received humanitarian relief from the federal government.
The materials, which were delivered by the Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Engineer Mustapha Maihaja were sent to all the IDP camps in the state.
Maihaja, while delivering the items to the victims, said it was a demonstration of the government’s concern to the plight of the IDPs in the country.
The DG, who was represented by the Head of Relief and Rehabilitation Unit, NEMA, Minna Operations Office, Mr. Abdulkareem Abubakar, said the items, which include food and non-food items were meant for the victims in Shiroro, Munya and Rafi local government areas.
The relief materials include rice, beans, maize, vegetable oil, sugar, cement, roofing sheets, assorted nails, mattresses, salts, mosquito nets and blankets.
Spokespersons for the IDPs, Malam Zakari Galadima and Mr. Silas Yakubu thanked the federal government for the gesture noting that it has created positive impact in the camp and gave IDPs sense of belonging.
They however appealed to the federal government to make more efforts to secure their communities so that they can return to their homes.
