Besides, national coordinator of the service, Oluwatoyin Smith, noted that poor funding, inadequate plan to sustain blood services, lack of cooperation from health workers, resistance to change and deep cultural misconceptions about blood, are among factors hampering voluntary blood donation in Nigeria.
He spoke in Makurdi, Benue State at a meeting of stakeholders on blood safety to drive wider awareness and plans about blood safety, increase community owner-ship of blood services and of top quality.
