The Senate President of naps Comrade Salahudeen Lukman made the call, yesterday, when he led a delegation on courtesy visit to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth and Students Matters, Comrade Jude Imagwe.
Lukman said implementation of the funds in polytechnics and other institutions will reduce the cases of strikes and ameliorate problem of infrastructural decay.
The NAPS’s President, who conveyed letters of protest to President Goodluck Jonathan and Senate president David Mark through Imagwe, said the law establishing the funds mentioned only universities, arguing that TETFUND remained the best way to address the problem of infrastructural decay in the institutions.
Responding, Imagwe who read from the 2011 act that established the fund said its focus was not limited to the universities, adding that efforts will be made to pay more attention to polytechnics and other institutions.
He assured the students that the government was working to end the ongoing polytechnics strike.
He, however, urged the students to shun any form of protest, urging them to embrace dialogues at all times to resolve their differences.
