A statement signed by the president of the council, Alhaji Muftau Adeyemo, stated that the Hijrah is expected to imbibe the spirit of oneness, peace, stability and brotherhood.
The council also urged the entire Muslim Ummah to imbibe the foregoing and to co-exist with non-Muslims in peace as enshrined in the Quran.
Adeyemo commended the three states of Osun, Kano and Niger for declaring public holiday to mark the Islamic calendar.
