They claimed that the officers usually carry out sporadic operations on their members and only release them when they pay a stipends.
“We are tired of their harassment. How much do we make that we have to part with various sums of money whenever they arrest us. They usually arrest us for very flimsy excuses and they will not release us until we part with money’’ noted one motorcyclist.
Another rider said the motorcyclists had resolved to hold the officers responsible for the death of any motorcyclist who dies in the process of trying to escape arrest.
He accused the police of stopping erring motorcyclists in a dangerous manner which has led to accidents in the area.
Reactions from the police could not be obtained immediately but one of the officers posted to the area, also accused the motorcyclists of riding against traffic and resisting arrest whenever they are caught in the act.
