The bridge has collapsed repeatedly in a decade with several appeals to the federal government to carry out major repairs on it.
It would be recalled that the bridge collapsed in February 2014, cutting off eight major markets as well as the Medium Security Prison at Mandala. A minor repair was carried out at the time.
A truck with Lagos registration LSR 692 XB carrying planks crashed on the bridge on Friday night, blocking movement of other vehicles across it. Motorists pleaded with the federal government to repair the bridge to stop the frequent damage.
