The Nigeria Wrestling Federation has confirmed that two-time Africa champion, Odunayo Adekuroye will participate at the Indian league which holds from the 10 to 27 December 2015.
2014 commonwealth gold medalist was earlier denied visa by the Indian embassy last week in Lagos, and it took the intervention of Nigeria government alongside her Indian club side to turn the fortune of the promising athlete.
It will be recalled that Adekuroye signed a two years deal with an Indian wrestling club Mumbai team.
According to her coach, Purity Akuh, Adekuroye needs to wrestle with international wrestlers if she is to have a chance of securing a medal at the Olympics in Rio, Brazil.
Purity, who guided Adekuroye to a bronze medal victory at 2015 World Wrestling Championship in Las Vegas, USA, the young wrestler needs international matches to get acquainted with different wrestling styles.
On the other hand, the 2015 Copa Brazil Tournament billed for December 7 to 11 will not have Nigeria wrestlers in attendance due to the unavailability of funds.
The tournament which serves as a warm-up exercise ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympics qualifiers in Alexandra, Egypt will have no Nigerian wrestler in attendance.
Nigeria wrestlers who ought to participate at the tourney were Mercy Genesis, Aminat Adeniyi, Blessing Oborududu, Hannah Reuben and Blessing Onyebuchi in the female category; while male Greco Roman has Emmanuel Nwori, Tochukwu Okeke, and male freestyle wrestler; Welson Ebikewenimo, Amas Daniel, Melvin Bibo and Soso Tamara.
