A road accident involving a commercial tricycle and a blue Ford bus on Monday evening claimed three lives in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State.

Eko Trust gathered that the accident occurred along the Oru/Ijebu-Igbo road.

Our correspondent learnt that the driver of the tricycle, popularly called Keke Marwa, was conveying four passengers when he recklessly overtook the bus marked KTU 426 XX.

The spokesman of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in a terse statement he issued yesterday.

Akinbiyi disclosed that of the seven persons involved in the accident, three persons, including a child, died, while two passengers sustained degrees of injuries.

“The accident was caused by wrongful overtaking by the tricycle driver outbound Ijebu-Igbo, who collided with the Ford bus inbound Ijebu-Igbo. There were two male passengers in the bus, while three females, one male and a minor were in the tricycle. Two males were injured in the accident, while three out of those in the tricycle were presumed dead (the driver, a female passenger and a minor),” he said.
