According to Milla, the African Cup of Nations is handicapped by the fact that CAF does a poor job organizing the event and that things must improve significantly in the future.
“CAF has to organize the African Cup of Nations better. You have to say that they’re not well organized,” he said while speaking to AFP at a charity event in Paris on Thursday.
Much like the rest of football fans around the world, the legendary striker was particularly shocked by how the attack on the Togolese delegation was handled by CAF officials in Angola both during and after the tragedy.
“Even if Togo were wrong you have to go speak with them. And I don’t even see how Togo was wrong! There are no rules saying that a team has to take a plane instead of a bus. I don’t know if I can tell you that CAF is responsible but it’s not a question of responsibility, it’s a question of humanity,” he fumed.
“When a team bus is machine gunned, the least you can do is send a representative to apologize. It’s not just the Togolese who are angry. Even other countries are upset.”
