Northern petty traders detained in relation to the recent Mile 12 market violence in the Lagos Kiri-Kiri maximum prison are dying   of gun shot wounds  and diseases, a member of the House of Representatives, Sani Zorro has said.
He said governors of Sokoto, Kano, Zamfara, Kebbi and Katsina must come to the aid of the detained traders, whom, he said, were arrested in their homes over the incident.
The lawmaker, who represents Gumel/Maigatari/S-Tankarkar/Gagarawa federal constituency from Jigawa state told BBC Hausa that stringent bail conditions imposed on the people had made it impossible to secure them  bail.
“Up to 306 of the traders are still being detained and are suffering in the Kirikiri maximum prison, on charges of violence and others. Some of them were arrested in their homes, while asleep.
“There is information that some of the people being arrested are dying out of the gun shots, some from the infection of diseases in the prison,” he said.
