In a press statement issued by the Forum after its emergency meeting in Abuja and signed by the Chairman, Hon. Dan Suleiman, the body condemned the act and went further to describe the perpetrators of the heinous act as evil men who do not wish the country well.
The body expressed shock that Abuja, the nation’s capital city is not spared such acts of barbarism which should at worst be associated with unorganized and uncivilized societies.
“We of the Middle Belt Forum are shocked by the assassination attempt on one of the highly placed Nigerians right here in the heart of Abuja. We are yet to comprehend how such an act could be carried out right there in an area that is occupied by important personalities who are serving the nation”
The group maintained that if a place like Abuja cannot boast of adequate security, then the country may be heading towards a complete state of anarchy which is the total absence of law and order.
“The unwarranted attack on our dear patriot and hard working son should be seen as a serious challenge to the security operatives in this country, especially those in the FCT where the security chiefs are resident”
The forum therefore called on the Inspector General of Police and other relevant security operatives to thoroughly investigate the ugly incident and ensure that those found to be behind the criminal act are apprehended and brought to justice.
The Middle Belt Forum, FCT Chapter in addition expressed its heartfelt sympathy to the victim urging him to go about his activities without any fear as God almighty is the only protector of everybody including the wicked.
“Despite the attack on him, Maikausa must remain focused and committed to serving this country. He should go about his activities with any fear because God is the only protector of everybody including the wicked”.
In related development, the forum called on Nigerian youths not to allow themselves to be used by criminally minded people who are out to destroy what is left of this country.
Instead of indulging in criminal acts, they have been urged to be hard working, patriotic and committed to the peace and development of their country.
“We urge Nigerians youths not to cooperate with those who use them in committing crimes against fellow Nigerians. We know that Nigerian youths are hard working and industrious and can change this country for better if they are properly guided”.
