Today’s conventions are coming on the heels of a similar one by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) on April 18 in Lagos, which is part of the requirements of the merging parties to formalise their merger.
A competent source told Weekly Trust that June was the target of the parties to formally register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Both the ANPP and CPC held their last Board of Trustees (BOT) meetings simultaneously in Abuja on Thursday.
Speaking to newsmen after the ANPP BOT meeting, which went late into the night, and attended by the National Chairman, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and other party stalwarts, the BOT chairman and former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sherrif, said all the agenda of the Zamfara Convention had been ratified by the BOT.
“This is a very important meeting which probably would end our 15 years journey to another destination. We pray to God to make us succeed.
“I wish to inform all that all the agenda of the convention had been duly ratified by the BOT of our party, as required by Article 13 of ANPP Constitution,” he said.
