Speaking at the distribution point in Billiri town recently, on behalf the federal director of agriculture in charge of the distribution of the fertilizer, Mr Daniel Paul Madaki, said the input was distributed as part of MDG’s commitment and mandate to empower women in farming in the country.
Mr Madaki who advised the women to continue to proudly embrace the farming profession, which he described as the natural, most historic and important human trade all over the world, called on them to sensitise their womenfolk on the need to embrace farming as a profession.
He said the Millennium Development Goal project will continue to empower women in farming until there was enough food on the table of every Nigerian family and in the market of every Nigerian community.
Mr Madaki however appealed to other categories of  farmers in Billiri that the MDG has not yet made available the much required farming ingredient. He appealed to them to bear with the agency for now, promising that as soon as there was another opportunity to provide more, they will be considered.
The federal director called on the Gombe State government to complement the MDG’s efforts to empower all farmers in the state. He thanked all the political leaders, traditional rulers and the good people of Billiri for making the exercise hitch free.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries of the fertilizer, Malama Ladi Amfani thanked the Millennium Development Goal for the recognition and for considering them worthy of the support. She said the support is a testimony that “our contributions to national development have been recognised.”
She said, “we want to assure you that unlike others, we are going to use this fertilizer for the purpose it was given to us.”
