The NIESV FCT chapter new exco, led by its chairman, Emmanuel Alao, stated this last week during a courtesy call on the management of Media Trust Limited in Abuja.
Alao also identified developers’ poor access to finance from primary mortgage institutions as a major impediment to mass housing scheme, aimed at making houses available to the majority of residents.
“The recently launched affordable housing programme unveiled by Nigeria Mortgage Refinancing Commission, (NMRC) is a laudable scheme which will assist in providing jobs through the construction industry. But the question is that how accessible/affordable is the housing when a minimum of three bedroom flat in some remote area will command N7.5 million,” he questioned.
