A Malaysian aid group, Yayasan Budi Ihsan, has donated 100 herds of cattle and 50 goats to 13 internally-displaced persons (IDPs) camps and host communities in Borno State.

Speaking at the Bakassi IDPs camp in Maiduguri yesterday after Eid prayer, the group’s coordinator in Nigeria, Dr Mohammed Umar, said the gesture was to give succour to displaced people and widows in the state to celebrate the Eid festival.

An official of the state’s Emergency Management Agency, Ali Abdullahi Musa, applauded the Malaysian group for putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged.

“This is a huge intervention considering the economic hardships experienced in the state due to insurgency,” he said.
