Military operatives ordered the closure of the Maitama fruits market, also known as farmers market, to prevent they said was a planned bomb attack by the Boko Haram insurgents.
Contacted yesterday on when the market will be re-opened, the Director Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade said, “When the security assess-ment of the situation permits such a step.”
Traders at the market had complained of loss of goods which mostly perishable produce worth millions of naira as they had restocked ahead of the Ramadan fast sales.
